| This
catalogue contains works by composers born before ca. 1790,
but we could not resist including a few slightly later ones.
We intend to enlarge these catalogues constantly, so stay
on-line. The next stages will be: vocal music and orchestral
music. We have tried to compile lists of all titles currently
available. If there are several editions of a particular work
in print, we have selected one or more of the best. Some
modern collections have been excluded. Where an edition is
out-dated we have indicated this by giving the editor's name
in brackets. The names of editors of good editions are shown
without brackets. Only arrangements from before the early 19th
century have been included. The very few modern arrangements
which you will find are labelled "(arr.)". In case
you find e.g. the list of recorder music meager, please take a
look at the violin, flute or oboe repertoire. Early ensemble
works are grouped under the heading "consort music".
It has been a joy to explore
the great bounty of editions which has turned out to be even
larger than we had imagined. There are of course still many
gaps but new editions are appearing all the time, and on each
of our quarterly lists we keep our regular customers up to
date. Please leave your e-mail address if you want to
receive these newsletters.
Omissions are unavoidable;
suggestions about any "major" ones are very welcome.
Prices:
all prices are shown in Euros (€). Prices may change as a result of
revisions by the publishers or exchange rate fluctuations.
Payments: We
prefer to receive payment by credit card or postal giro. If
you want to pay by credit card (Visa, American Express,
Eurocard/Mastercard, Diner's Club) please state the number and
exp. date of your card when placing your order.
Meindert de Heer
The inhabitants (of Amsterdam) at present seem to
have no places of amusement in the evening, except their shops
and counting-houses; but as I had neither of my own, I went to
those of the famous bookseller, Rey, and the music-seller
Hummel, where having lightened my purse, and loaded my servant,
I retreated to the first bed which I had seen since my
departure from Hamburg.
(Dr. Charles
Burney on visiting Amsterdam, October 22, 1772)
